Today was the kids' first day back to school. Kindergarten for Barrett and 2nd grade for Jayna. Two years ago, Bonham and I looked at each other and said, "How can we have a Kindergartener"? Now we have a Kindergartener and a 2nd grader! Now, how is that possible???
Jayna had trouble getting to sleep last night - I think she was too excited to sleep. She said she woke up at 6:30, but waited until she heard us get up before she got out of bed. She is my little nerd and I love it! :)
We got up early and I made the kids some chocolate chip pancakes!
Pretty in Pink:
Sweet 2nd grader:
Sweet Kindergartener:
I told him last night that on this day, I would want to fix his hair, which he is normally opposed to and that I would want to take his picture at home and with his teacher, which he is also opposed to most times...
Barrett does better when tell him in advance what we want him to do and how we expect him to act.
These smiles are a little silly, but he's still a handsome boy!
"Happy First Day of Schooooooool"
is what Barrett is saying...
That's a little better...
I was going to take their pictures separately, but someone was a little sneaky...
Ready for school!

- Baby Teeth: Barrett still has ALL of his baby teeth - no loose teeth
- Favorite Food: Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

- Favorite Thing To Do: playing Angry Birds and PBS kids on the computer
- Favorite Show/Movie: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
- Favorite Color: Green
- Best Friend: Claire from ACS
- Looking forward to this school year: Barrett hopes that they have puzzle that he has never finished (done) before. He said what he liked the most about last school year was playing Mrs. King's Ipad. I personally think that they he will like the school's playground the MOST!
- When Barrett grows up: He said that he wants to be a "regular dad". After his dentist appointment last week, he told us that maybe he would be a dentist. Either way is fine. :)
- Personality traits: Barrett is still very sweet and sensitive. He can be very emotional when other kids don't play fair or they take things away from him. He is very nurturing and loving towards smaller children. He likes to do boy things, but doesn't mind playing with his sister and her dolls too!
- What does Barrett know?: Barrett is so smart and he knows all his sounds and letters; he can count to 100; he writes his own name and all the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet; he can read short words and some sentences; he loves music and is good at memorizing the words to most songs; Mrs. King (Pre-K teacher at ACS) said that he has AWESOME Social Skills.
- Changes from last year: Since last year, Barrett has gone through a major surgery, he has completed a full year of Pre-K at ACS, and he played t-ball last spring.
- Other things: Barrett loves to go to the zoo with his Daddy (Bonham) and his sister, Jayna. He enjoyed going bowling this summer. Barrett loves to play with his cousins and his sister. Over this past summer, Barrett enjoyed "stargazing", jumping on the trampoline, swimming in Nana's pool, and visiting the library. Barrett was looking forward to this school year and we pray that he does well and makes new friends!
Jayna's 2nd Grade Stats:
- Height: 4 feet 3 inches (81st percentile) - up 3 inches from last year
- Weight: 79.5 lbs (97th percentile) - up 18.5 lbs from last year

- Dress/Shirt: 12 with some 14
- Baby Teeth: has lost 7 so far and has one loose tooth right now

- Favorite Thing To Do: Hula-Hooping
- Favorite Show/Movie: My Little Ponies / Barbie Movies
- Favorite Color: Pink
- Best Friend: Ali from ACS
- Looking forward to this school year: Meeting new friends and new teacher
- When Jayna grows up: She wants to be a scientist. Jayna is really into animals, so maybe she will be a veterinarian!
- Personality traits: Jayna is very sweet and giving. She is eager to do new things and she likes to make friends. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was a child. She loves to talk and sing - ALL THE TIME! :) She has a lot of confidence in her ability to do so many things, even when she may not be very good at them, but that's alright. We encourage her to try new things and give her all, but we also try to keep her grounded and realistic about her abilities. Jayna is very motherly and when she tries to mother other children her age, they get a little irritated with her, which in turn hurts her feelings. :( We have been working on that...
- What does Jayna know?: Jayna knows so much! She can read short books - this year will be a year that we really focus on reading more and more. She knows addition and subtraction; she can even do some multiplication and division. She knows a lot about plants and animals and she is very inquisitive about EVERYTHING!
- Changes from last year: Since last year, Jayna has started playing softball. She played spring ball - this was her first year to play and with each game, she got better and better. Jayna starts fall softball practice tonight. We thought it would be important for her to continue with the physical activity. She is looking forward to it! Jayna is also in piano - this is her second year and she is doing really well.
- Other things: In the past few months, Jayna has been open to trying different/new foods. This is a big step, as our kids are incredibly picky eaters. Jayna is very excited about being a big sister again and wants to be a big helper when George arrives!
I know this post was long, but I wanted to try to document as much as I could about what is going on right now. I am sure that I am missing some things though.
