Since we have a mile long list of restrictions for Barrett for four weeks post-surgery, we have opted out of going to any any pumpkin patches. Its been nice to see our friends posting pictures of their pumpkin patch adventures and living vicariously through them. :) We are 2 weeks and 2 days out of surgery, as of today! Barrett is healing well and seems almost normal. He's a little whiny and clingy, but after being out of routine for a bit, it was to be expected I guess. Looking forward to being cleared to resume normal activities....
Here are some of the things that Barrett CAN'T do for another 12 days:
- No running
- No jumping
- No climbing
- No sliding
- No swinging
- No swimming/or being submerged in water (like a bath)
- No pulling up or swinging by the arms
- No lifting of more than 10 pounds
- No wrestling
- No headstands/gymnastics, etc.
- No driving -this one had us all bummed; he was just about to take his driver's exam! LOL
- No outside play/recess
- Pretty much: NO BEING A 4 YEAR OLD BOY!!!!
So with those restrictions, we have basically been trying to keep Barrett inside and keep him calm. He plays the computer, his leap pad, and watches a lot of t.v. I think he is getting bored, but there really aren't any other options. Once he is able to resume regular play, we can send him to school and life should be a little more normal. He did tell us yesterday that he likes to spend the day with me and Bonham! Uh oh! We were hoping that he would say he missed his friends at school... no such luck!
His teacher, Mrs. King sent home some homework for him to do, so we are working on that to keep his brain from going to mush! Just kidding. All of the computer games and shows he's watching are educational. :) I think he is enjoying sleeping in... he is still asleep right now. I wish he would wake up. It's weird for me to just turn on 'Little Einsteins' for myself....
